Art at North Hill

One of many things that makes North Hill a special place to live is our commitment to art. Thanks to resident Helen Meyrowitz we have a professionally curated gallery featuring 4 annual exhibits by distinguished national artists.  Also thanks to Helen and her talent for persuasion we have a permanent art collection. Every artist who exhibits at North Hill donates an original work to the collection.  The works are permanently displayed salon style on two floors of our Avery Wing.

For January and February of 2025, selections of the collection will be featured in the North Hill Art Gallery in an exhibit curated by Danforth Art Museum Executive Director Jessic Roscio.

Lest those Avery walls feel bereft and lonely, an installation by North Hill’s retiring curator Ellen Weinberg now graces those spaces for the next two months.  Come see! You can click below to view our entire permanent collection in our newly created catalog.

North Hill in the News!

Needham’s paper of record, The Needham Observer featured a story about North Hill’s 40th Anniversary and the positive changes being made by CEO Joe Frias.

The Central Avenue entrance to North Hill gives little indication that at the top of the long, curving driveway is a community of more than 500 Needham residents. The vibrant senior living complex this year is marking its 40th anniversary.

North Hill introduced a financial model for long-term care that was a first in New England. It was the vision of Jarvis Farley, an actuary and one of the corporators of Babson College, who saw a need for seniors in Needham and Wellesley who wanted to retire and remain in the area.

Meet Bert and Sally Dane

A ride in Bert’s brother’s car. That was the beginning for Bert and Sally Dane. They didn’t know each other when they settled in and buckled their seat belts, but their ride to the North Shore became a short trip to a lifelong relationship. Their engagement was short, just like the trip. Pledged to each other in July, married by December: thus began 57 years of marriage; kids, careers, many moves and houses — all against the backdrop of travel adventures around the world.
