The Heights Club: April, 2025
Spring is awakening on North Hill’s campus. This brave hyacinth stood tall and steady right outside our Grand Lobby despite the force of a brisk April breeze. Perhaps it was doughty buds like these that inspired Medieval Persian poet Moslih Eddin to write this verse:
“If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.”
This month’s edition of the Heights Club page wishes you a soul full of hyacinths all year long.
Every Dog Has its Day
It turns out North Hill’s canine companions are more than just friends. They all have the heart of a show dog! Here are photos of those proud canines and their humans promenading in North Hill’s first-ever doggie fashion show in February. Who’s a good boy?
Art at North Hill
New installations of our permanent collection are now in our gallery. Come this spring to enjoy these and many others, including Happy go Lucky Whale by Nancy Schon of Make Way for Ducklings Fame. There are just a few pictured here, so come view them all.
You can view the entire collection in the link to the catalog below. We sent it to you in January, but it’s worth another look!

First up: Victorian Literature, the works of Anthony Trollope
“That I can read and be happy while I am reading, is a great blessing.”

Showtime!
After rehearsing like troupers for months, North Hill residents staged a boffo concert version of Meredith Willson’s 1957 production, The Music Man under the direction of North Hill’s choir director Cece Fougner Hunt. With costumes, props and a collective song in their hearts they mounted two performances of the show that wowed the audiences who were heard humming happily as they left the auditorium.
The Music Man was composer Meredith Willson’s homage to his boyhood home of Mason City, Iowa. The story it tells began as a book he was writing entitled “There I Was With My Piccolo.”
Its music, lyrics and homespun story have long been enshrined in the pantheon of America’s greatest Broadway productions. Til There Was You, Gary Indiana and the delightful patter song Trouble in River City hold prominent place in the canon of the American Songbook.
Enjoy the photos in the gallery below of North Hill’s talented cast. They practiced ’til perfect, sang like larks and rocked the house. Bravissimo!
The Wood Shop & Ceramic Studio
North Hill’s state-of-the-art wood shop has inspired some of our most skilled and creative residents to produce complex and truly beautiful designs. Scan through the gallery below for some photos of the shop and our residents’ stunning works.
Additionally, North Hill has cut the ribbon on our new ceramic studio! Now residents can expand their creativity with clay, throwing it, molding it, and firing it up into new designs unique to each creator’s imagination.
All You Need is Love
Love abounds at North Hill every day. It’s evident in the way people smile and greet each other; in small gestures of appreciation and respect; in kindness, and in the generosity of spirit that is palpable throughout the entire campus. Often, love is tangibly expressed, as it was last month when residents organized an appreciation party for North Hill team members.
Our beautiful team member dining room was festooned with flowers and notes of appreciation by residents from all three North Hill neighborhoods, Crescent Heights, Vista Terrace and Pines Edge. We feasted on savory creations and indulged in sweet treats, all while sharing conversation and companionship with the residents and each other.
North Hill team members love our residents, and how lucky for us that they love us back. Thank you North Hill residents from everybody on the team.
